ALESSANDRA RUSSO
Fashion designer. Knitwear specialist.
Born in the United States and raised in Italy, my design aesthetic and philosophy is a perfect blend of Italian sophistication and American wearability.
After studying for one year at Europe's leading fashion school, Istituto Marangoni in Milan, I moved to New York where I received a BFA in Fashion Design from the acclaimed Fashion Institute of Technology. By specializing in Knitwear Design, I further explored my passion for print, color and texture.
I gained valuable experience as a freelance designer at Ralph Lauren, Theory, Haute Hippie and Rag&Bone, and by interning at 3.1 Phillip Lim and Donna Karan's Urban Zen.
My creative & technical skills include: sketching of women's & menswear; designing flats by hand & Illustrator; trend research; stitch design & layout; draping, sewing & pattern making of knit & woven fabrics; fitting of garments; in-depth understanding of yarn; sourcing; costing; meeting & building relationships with vendors; daily correspondence with mills & factories overseas; design specs; creating tech packs & factory line sheets; merchandising; proficiency in Adobe Photoshop & Illustrator, Microsoft Excel, Kaledo Suite, Stoll M1 Plus; hand knitting on Brother and Dubied machines.
Fluent in Italian, French and English with both American and European citizenship, I am encouraged and able to seek international design opportunities.
